FilmForward is also a place where the developments in the industry -and beyond- are a subject of reflection themselves.
On the one hand to keep curriculum formation and programmes in all echelons as flexible and up to date as possible. On the other, also to be able to anticipate the consequences that technological and cultural developments can have in the long term for the film and audio-visual media world in the broadest sense.

For instance developments in the area of virtual reality and Artificial Intelligence, but also of questions around media use and their consequences for the way in which our societies function, as well as questions around inclusiveness, representation and the anticipation of changes in the production and screening chain.

FilmForward will form a Think Tank, existing of media-wide experts giving advice solicited and unsolicited, questioning the activities of the institution and places them in a wider context, and presenting its findings.
