Workshop Aging & Wounds<\/b>
\n<\/b>In collaboration with <\/span>RFX Propmaking<\/span><\/a>\u00a0 (Haarlem), FilmForward is organizing a hands-on two-day Special Effects Make-Up Workshop on Saturday 28 November and Sunday 29 November in Haarlem. This is a unique opportunity to develop your skills in aging and wound effects under the guidance of experienced industry professionals.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>For this workshop, we are partnering with <\/span>Twilight Creations<\/span><\/a> (Berlin)<\/span>), one of Europe’s leading special make-up effects studios. Tamar Aviv from Twilight Creations leads the sessions and prepares prosthetics for each participant according to the day’s theme. Twilight Creations has been involved in world-class productions including <\/span>Game of Thrones<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tamar will co-teach these masterclasses with another professional artist currently working in the film and television industry, bringing an additional perspective and hands-on industry experience to the workshop. We will announce the guest artist’s name at a later date.<\/span><\/p>\n

You may register for either day individually or for both days. Each workshop is limited to 12 participants, who will practice the techniques on one another.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who is this workshop for?<\/b>
\n<\/b>This workshop is intended for <\/span>junior to senior hair and make-up professionals<\/span> who want to expand their skills in aging and\/or wound on-set effects.<\/span><\/p>\n

What will you learn?<\/b>
\n<\/span>Both masterclasses focus on the application and coloration of pre-made encapsulated silicone and Bondo prosthetics: you will learn professional application techniques, seamless edge blending, and realistic coloration using materials commonly found in today’s film and television industry. Following a live demonstration by Tamar Aviv, you will work on your own application, with personal guidance throughout the process.<\/span><\/p>\n

Saturday \u2014 theme: Subtle Aging<\/b>
\n<\/b>This day is about subtle, believable aging: together we create the small facial changes that naturally occur with age \u2014 for depth, realism and character, without dramatic transformation. Ideal if you want to strengthen your prosthetic application or coloring techniques.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday \u2014 theme: Realistic Wounds & Injury Simulation<\/b>
\n<\/b>This day focuses on creating realistic wounds and injuries: from understanding the anatomy and character of an injury to a convincing final result on the skin. There is extra attention to coloration, texture, depth and the details that make an injury feel physically believable rather than simply theatrical \u2014 ideal if you want to develop a more realistic approach to wound simulation.<\/span><\/p>\n

What should you bring?<\/b><\/p>\n

Participants are asked to bring their own basic makeup kit, including a mirror and chair (1 per 2 participants), brushes, synthetic brushes, chip brushes, tweezers, scissors and dental flat tools, a fan and\/or hair dryer, an acetone-resistant cup, a brush cleaning pot, glue holder cups, a powder puff, texture sponges, hair clips and a cape.<\/span><\/p>\n

Consumable materials such as adhesives and paints are provided by RFX, with support from Formx, and are included in the workshop. If you have any questions about the necessary materials, please contact fauve@rfxacademy.nl.<\/span><\/p>\n

When registering through our website, you’ll be asked to tell us a little about your experience. Please do so as fully as possible, so we can prepare as best we can.<\/b><\/p>\n

Fees and PPO funding<\/b>
\n<\/b>The participation fee is \u20ac350 per workshop day. Attending both days costs \u20ac600 in total.
\n<\/span>For ACM members, the fee is \u20ac275 per workshop day, or \u20ac525 for both days.
\n<\/span>Fees include lunch, all consumable materials (such as adhesives and paints), and the prosthetics used during the workshop. <\/span>Dutch professionals may be eligible to reclaim up to one-third of the participation fee through <\/span>the Werktuig PPO<\/span><\/a> professional development scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n

Registration<\/b>
\n<\/b>Registration opens on 1 September. Please register no later than 23 October. If demand exceeds capacity, a waiting list will be created.<\/span><\/p>\n

If there are insufficient registrations for the workshop to proceed, FilmForward will cancel it no later than five weeks before the event (23 October), with a full refund for all registered participants. Because this workshop involves substantial costs, a minimum number of participants is required for it to take place.<\/span><\/p>\n
