Garcia took part in the Kids &amp; Docs workshop after graduating in directing documentaries at the Film Academy in 2016. Here, he directed the youth documentary <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Skip &amp; the rhythm rangers<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2018, Witfilm\/NTR), which was selected for the IDFA youth competition.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He then directed the short documentary <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Torso<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2019, Tangerine Tree\/EO) as part of Teledoc Campus, premiering at the NFF in Utrecht. His groundbreaking three-part documentary series <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gewoon Boef<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2020, Videoland, Newbe.) was the most-streamed documentary on Videoland. In partnership with Akwasi Ansah, he directed <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Een gat in mijn hart<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the first documentary for Omroep Zwart (2022, Yalla docs), exploring the impact of the 1992 plane crash on the children in Amsterdam\u2019s Bijlmer district. For FunX and the NTR Olivier produced videos addressing issues such as senseless violence, feminism, and the Black Lives Matter movement.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, Olivier is working on his debut feature-length documentary, delving into the dynamics of masculinity within his own family (KRO\/NCRV, mint film office). And he is developing a feature-length documentary on Feis, the unsung hero of the Rotterdam underground hip-hop scene with FunX\/NTR, and a feature-length theatrical documentary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Research question<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I would like to explore how to let go of a traditional narrative documentary film structure and experiment with multiple forms.
