Marlyn Spaaij has worked in the Dutch animation industry since 2012. As a storyboard artist, character designer, screenwriter, character animator, and script consultant, she has experience working on series, shorts and feature films. She is currently directing her animated short film Trouble in Mind (12’) and developing the feature film Sisters of the Mist (85’). Her graphic novel Sisters of the Mist was published in 2022 by Flying Eye Books. She also teaches at the HKU (Utrecht School of the Arts).
Research question: How can the animated narrative documentary be utilized to reshape our perspective of Dutch history in regards to agriculture, land and water management? Which documentary elements and which narrative elements do I want to use in shaping an assertive audio-visual plea.
