FilmForward and Kaboom Animation Festival present an Artist Talk by British animator Joanna Quinn.
Immerse yourself in the animated world of Joanna Quinn, one of Britain’s most celebrated animators. Over a career marked by three Oscar® nominations and a haul of BAFTAs and Emmys, Joanna has redefined the animated form. From her 1987 debut Girls Night Out to her hit Affairs of the Art, her work has remained a bold celebration of the female body and a sharp exploration of gender politics, often centred around her iconic, working-class heroine, Beryl.
In the artist talk, Joanna will share practical insight into her life as a leading woman in the industry, discussing the obsession and the patience required to reach the pinnacle of the craft. Attendees will go behind the scenes through a showcase of original artwork and clips, culminating in a live animation demonstration on stage. This is a unique opportunity to witness the technique, humour, and talent of a true master.
