FilmForward joins forces with The National Film School of Denmark, Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event and The Norwegian Film School to organise this Mastering AI for European Film Professionals programme from April to November 2026. The programme will focus on various areas of AI, such as technical skills and ethical discussions, and takes place in Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Tallinn and online. Apply by February 18th: there’s a select number of places available. Two selected Dutch applicants will receive partial funding from Netherlands Film Fund.

The Mastering AI for European Film Professionals programme is tailored for industry professionals eager to master the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in the audiovisual industry. It is an intensive executive training initiative spanning over nine months. The course will take place in five modules across Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Tallinn, and online.

Led by industry expert Sten Saluveer, this five-module course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate and innovate in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Through a string of comprehensive modules, participants will explore the impact of AI on creative storytelling, iterative learning, practical applications of AI tools, and strategic network development that enhances international and interdisciplinary knowledge sharing.

The program balances concentrated on-site modules with flexible online engagement and mentorship, the program ultimately enhances the participants ability to leverage AI as a creative and productive tool in filmmaking.

Who is this programme for?
This course is ideal for validated European audiovisual professionals (producers, directors, writers, DOPs, distributors, exhibitors, financiers, executives, heads of department, technology & VFX leads, policymakers, educators) with a minimum of five years of proven industry experience. The program seeks individuals in positions to influence strategic decision-making and implement learned practices within their organisations or projects.

Application process
Applications and CV should be made by filling out this application form. The application deadline is February 18th, with selections based on experience and motivation. Video interviews will take place between 23 and 27 February. The selected applicants will be announced on March 9th.

Funding opportunities
The Netherlands Film Fund offers partial funding for two selected Dutch participants.

Structure of the program
Module 1: AI Foundations & Change Management
April 10-12, 2026 in Copenhagen – The National Film School of Denmark
Goal: To establish a common understanding of the AI landscape, its implications for the European AV sector, and the principles of managing the organisational and personal change AI necessitates.

Module 2: Mastering Power Prompting & Creative Applications: Short Film Production
May 29-31, 2026, online
Goal: To equip participants with practical skills in utilizing Generative AI tools effectively and ethically across the AV creative workflow, focusing on prompt engineering and application in short-form content creation.

Module 3: Ethics and Legal Perspectives
June 12-14, 2026, online
Goal: To provide a thorough understanding of the critical ethical considerations and the evolving European legal framework (especially the EU AI Act) surrounding AI use in the creative industries.

Module 4: Business Applications and Development for Ethical AI in Europe
September 10-13, 2026m Amsterdam, Netherlands – FilmForward
Goal: To explore strategic business applications of AI, focusing on innovation, efficiency, new business models, and marketing within the European context, while showcasing ethical AI talent and implementation strategies.

Module 5: Sustainability, Sales and Marketing & Final Presentations
November 16-18, 2026, Tallinn, Estonia – Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event
Goal: To integrate AI considerations into financing, marketing, and sustainability practices, culminating in the presentation of participant projects to industry professionals and a final reflection.
