The Mastering AI for European Film Professionals (MAIEFP) is a year-long programme meant for industry professionals eager to learn about integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in the audiovisual industry, led by head of studies Sten-Kristian Saluveer. FilmForward, The National Film School of Denmark, and Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event co-organise and co-curate the MAIEFP programme. With support from Creative Europe Media and The Danish Film Institute.
The first module of the programme took place in Denmark last April. The programme’s following two modules, module two and three, took place online.
In the first online module, the participants delved into AI workflows in Documentary, led by Anna Giralt Gris & Jorge Caballero (Artefacto Filmes); AI in the Writer’s Toolbox, led by Katri Manninen; AI in the Director’s Chair, led by Paul Trillo (Asteria Studios), and AI, Synthetic Voice & sound for Cinematic Feature Productions, led by the team from Respeecher, the studio behind The Brutalist and Emilia Pérez.
In the second weekend, the focus was more on copyright in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, led by Charlotte Lund Thomsen; AI-Powered Visual Effects, work flows, and the production line led by Patrik Gallo & Sylvain Montreuil, and AI Values, Responsibilities, Perspectives, and IP-protection, led by Carlo Rizzo from Blackcube and CinemaO.
Both modules kicked off with a morning yoga session, to keep the participants engaged through their digital screens.
Thanks to the 25 highly professional participants and two industry observers, selected from over 100 applications, for their valuable contributions throughout the programme so far.

The industry observers are Fie Ørnsø and Stéphanie Leempoels.
The programme will continue in September with module four in The Netherlands,and conclude with module 5 in Estonia (October).
