Luca (1996, Maastricht) graduated as a director from the Toneelacademie Maastricht in 2019. In addition to a theater production, she also created the short film ‘Elf,’ which traveled to various international festivals (including Palm Springs Shortfest and Cinekid).
In 2020, she collaborated with IJswater Films on the ‘Kort! Nova’ (including Buff Malmö, Uppsala, Int. Short Filmfestival Oberhausen) and subsequently directed the short coming-of-age film ‘Magma’ (written by Nena van Driel), which premiered at Berlinale Generation 2023 and won the award for Best Dutch Short Film at Cinekid 2023.
Apart from her work as a director, she has experience as a directing assistant, child coach, and (child) casting director in films such as ‘Kiddo’ (Zara Dwinger) and ‘De Man uit Rome’ (Jaap van Heusden). Currently, she is working on the development of her first feature film with IJswater Films as the producer.
During the ‘Vrijplaats op Maat,’ Luca aims to explore and enhance her knowledge of camera work, shot composition, and the technical skills associated with them. How do you translate ideas into the division of shots? How can this visual style elevate the content of a film or even become an additional player in creating a unique world?
