Jaap Kooijman

Jaap Kooijman is a researcher and senior lecturer at Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam and vice director of the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis. He specializes in the globalization of American pop culture and the connections between pop culture, politics and art.
In 2013, the expanded new edition of his book Fabricating the Absolute Fake: America in Contemporary Pop Culture was published, which is published in open access. He also produces audiovisual essays in which he uses the techniques of the media itself (film, television) to analyze them, several of which have appeared in international online magazines.
