Jan Dieckmann has a rich background in theater, where he collaborated closely with costume designers to bring their creative visions to life. His expertise lies in creating textiles for stage costumes in opera houses, ballet companies, musicals, and plays. Since 2010, Jan has extended his work to feature films, where he remains fascinated by the distinct differences between designing for theater and film. He has had the privilege of working with renowned costume designers such as Milena Canonero on The Grand Budapest Hotel and The French Dispatch, Colleen Atwood on Tomb Raider, and Odile Dicks-Mireaux on Chernobyl. Most recently, Jan spent several years working in Prague on The Wheel of Time, designed by the esteemed Sharon Gilham. For Jan, the process of manipulating fabrics and developing patterns for fantasy worlds and their various tribes and armies is deeply satisfying.
