Sharine Rijsenburg

Sharine Rijsenburg is a filmmaker and visual anthropologist based in Rotterdam. Her work examines Dutch and Caribbean archives to explore the relationship between (self-)image, representation, and colonial history.

Her debut short film Bubbling Baby (2024), composed of Caribbean archives and Rotterdam street culture, won the RTM Pitch and premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2025. Additionally, she works as a filmmaker and researcher for VPRO, where she weaves complex themes into experimental narratives.
