Workshop film production part 2: lighting and costume

Are you an AV professional and do you have the ambition to further develop your skills in the field of film production? Discover the deeper layers of different film departments and strengthen your skills to work together even more effectively. Grab your chance and participate in a two-day Film Production workshop, organized by Saskia van der Tas and Roos Smitt from the Dutch Productions Association (DPA) in collaboration with FilmForward.

The workshop will take place on December 1 and 4, 2023 in Amsterdam.

What can you expect?

The focus is on increasing your insight into specific film departments and how they relate to the budget. This workshop offers valuable knowledge and insights that perfectly match your professional background. Make sure you are there to further strengthen your professional path.

What are you going to do?

Friday, December 1 is all about Light at Lux & Co. Experience a unique opportunity to discover everything in a light shed. In addition, we will sit together for an informative session in which we will delve deeper into the preparation of a project, communication between the departments, drawing up a lighting plan, the use and impact of certain equipment choices on logistics and budget and we will hear from a gaffer how a project is tackled and prepared.

On Monday, December 4, we have planned a fascinating day about Costume Design & Positionality. Costume designer Bernadette Corstens (Gouden Kalf Best Costume Design 2023, Sweet Dreams) shares her insights about her work, explaining her craft in detail. Discover how she prepares a project, puts together a crew, who exactly does what and budgeting a project.

Winnie Roseval (diversity & inclusion consultant) then takes over to speak about Positionality. This session is about the challenges surrounding diversity and inclusion. It starts with awareness and good intentions, but that is often not enough. Learn how to develop useful tools to deal with your own biases and assumptions during every phase of filmmaking, from development to set or post-production. You will receive tools to strengthen your own position and your communication with the people you work with.

It will be a day full of valuable insights and practical knowledge!
