Together with TorinoFilmLab we are organising a Masterclass Audience Design with Italian audience designer Greta Nordio. This Masterclass is part of TalentScope 2025-2026 but open to all, especially to directors, producers, screenwriters and distributors.
Explaining what the word audience design means can be difficult: it’s a process, in which you try and explain for which audience you are making your film – consciously and unconsciouly. During this process you look at who your audience is, in terms of demographics but also interests, plus how you can reach this audience so that your film will be seen by the audience you create it for.
Nordio will give examples of projects that did ánd did not use audience design during their film project, and how this affected festival and box office success of their film. Nordio will also explain why the process of audience design is important during (pre-)production, and not just when the film is already finished and in the hands of distributors. Audience design is important already in the stage of funding, since funding agencies want you to be able to explain who you’re making your film for.
Greta Nordio is audience designer, development producer and financial consultant for independent films. She lives in Venice and works as funds advisor for TorinoFilmLab, overseeing the funds and awards for international co-productions. She also works at EiE Film as development producer, where she follows the financial and artistic development of several features and shorts.
Films Nordio has worked on are Miss Marx, Chiara, Siberia, Daughter of Mine, Domenica Sera (winner of the David di Donatello award for Best Short Film 2025). Nordio is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents, Columbia University, TorinoFilmLab, and EAVE Puentes Italia.
