Workshop script continuity in Utrecht
Are you an AV Professional who wants to develop further and get started with professional script continuity? Then register for the workshop ‘Script continuity’ for feature films and series, organized by Filmforward in collaboration with Studio Camera and directors Janice Pierre and Bob Wilbers. The workshop is intended for everyone who wants to master the profession, from beginners to experienced people on set: for example, production assistants who want to develop further, or screenwriters who want to gain more set experience. The condition is that you have set experience and basic knowledge of editing and film techniques.
During the workshop you will learn the profession using practical examples and good practices. You will learn how important continuity is for the editor, the director and the editing process. You will also learn how to best practice script continuity in your own way. You will also get started with practical skills: How do you read a scenario for continuity, what does a script do during rehearsals, how do you fill in a daily report and what is a daily report? Do you still have to align scripts? How do you work together with the rest of the crew? What does the script do if a lot of visual FX is going to be filmed? What do you pay attention to?

What are you going to do?
In 5 lessons you will take a deep dive into the field of script continuity:
You will receive a lot of information based on practical examples.
You will learn to read a script for continuity, what a script does during rehearsals, how to fill in a daily report, aligning scripts.
How do you work together with the rest of the crew? What if visual FX is going to be filmed, what should the script do then? What do you pay attention to?
You will learn how important continuity is for the editor, the editing and that it can even hinder a director in making choices during editing.
You will learn how to best practice the field of script continuity in your own way.
You will receive many tools and an extensive reader that you can also use as a reference.
We will also teach you how to negotiate at the beginning of your script continuity career.
We conclude the workshop with a very informative visit to the editor.
who is it for?
The workshop is intended for AV professionals who want to learn or retrain (including screenwriters, assistant producers, third assistants). Students with an audiovisual education (HKU, Film Academy, etc.) and recent graduates are also welcome.
The following admission requirements apply to this workshop:
Participant must have set experience, and basic knowledge of editing or film techniques is essential.
At least a first-year audiovisual education and/or sufficient set experience.

The masterclass is led by script editor Kate Leys.
Kate has had an impressive career, including her role as head of development at various companies such as Film4, where she contributed to the creation of classics like “Four Weddings and a Funeral” and “Trainspotting.”
This masterclass is a collaboration between FilmForward and the Netwerk Scenarioschrijvers, the Dutch professional association for writers of films and series.

You can apply for a contribution to Werktuig Permanente Professionele Ontwikkeling (PPO) for the costs of this workshop. PPO finances development plans for everyone who works in the creative or cultural sector, both for employees and self-employed persons. PPO finances 1/3 of your application, for example for a workshop or training. The remaining amount must be financed by your employer, client and/or yourself.
The Script Continuity workshop is co-financed by the Film Fund. You are therefore not eligible for a contribution in the field of training activities from the Film Fund. In special cases, a grant is available to cover the costs of the workshop. If you would like to be considered for this, please send an email with your motivation to info@filmforward.nl, stating ‘Motivation for compensation for costs of Script continuity’.
Our cancellation policy for this workshop is as follows:
If you cancel up to 14 days prior to the workshop, before October 22, you will receive a full refund of the amount paid.
If you cancel between 14 and 7 days prior to the workshop, between October 22 and October 29, you will receive a refund of 50% of the amount paid.
If you cancel within 7 days of the workshop, from October 29, you are not entitled to a refund.
